Probably the best large flowered hybrid Allium: large headed, long lasting and tidy growing.
Order Code: 53-46
Allium Globemaster
The RHS Award of Garden Merit
An astonishing hybrid with great presence. Strong stems support a flower that is 8” (20cm) across in deep violet -purple. Behind these flowers a second flush of flowers develop and push through so the flowering time is extended. The leaves also persist longer into the summer resulting in a ‘tidier’ plant, and one the insects love. They do not however form a seedhead as they are sterile. We supply large bulbs, in the nature of things these will split to produce smaller flowers in the second year, and as these grow larger again flower size will increase. Big purple flowers in late May, 36” (90cm) tall.
Planting instructions
Plant in a sunny situation in good fertile soil, about 5-6” (12.5-15 cm) deep and 12“ (30cm) or more apart. Dig in some good compost and pamper these bulbs with a sunny site and better soil.
