Chinese Chives, which have been used (leaves and flowers) in salads and as a vegetable for centuries in the east. As you would expect the foliage has a very pungent smell when bruised. The white flowers flowering at 24” (60cm) tall are produced sequentially over a long summer spell and are attractive to insects too. The leaves remain green and lush looking through this period. Increasing and setting seed in any sunny spot they can be used in the border or, as at Rosemoor, used as an edging to the vegetable blocks. Small clumps are provided, freshly dug and divided.
Planting instructions
