Anemone ranunculoides
Anemone ranunculoides is a central European native, stretching to the far north. It has bright buttercup yellow flowers with 5-8 tepals about 1” (2.5cm) across with dissected green-bronze leaves much like our own Windflower (A. nemorosa). There are many forms of the same plant, and they can vary widely in the size of the flower. Flowering from March to May it is 4-7” (10-17.5cm) tall and spreads by rounded fleshy rhizomes just below the surface of the soil, and will spread rapidly in woodland-like conditions. It needs a fertile soil which does not dry out during Spring and a partly shaded position. Grows well in a rock garden or under trees.
Planting instructions
Plant 2-3" (5-7.5cm) deep, 3” (7cm) apart laid horizontally in humus rich soil that will not dry out during the spring. Prefers deciduous shade.
