Numbers of small flowers are produced at the end of each flowering branch to make this a sought-after form.
Order Code: 75-6
Convallaria majalis prolificans
The name is slightly confusing. In this form there are numerous small flowers held in grape like clusters where there ought to be a single flower, indeed close inspection indicates that there are many single flowers held in whorls. Like the others these are rhizomatous perennials found in light woodland scrub in northern temperate regions. Still scented. The white Lily of the Valley is the National Flower of Finland and the flowers are traditionally sold in Paris on May 1st.
Planting instructions
Keep the rhizomes moist before planting and bury them 3” (7.5cm) below the soil horizontally. Plant in leafy fertile humus rich soil in full or part shade. Top dress with leaf mould in autumn.
