Dieramas may be found from the southern Cape northwards through eastern Africa to Ethopia and from sea level to the the top of the Drakensberg escarpment at 10,000'. Despite this wide geographical range they are restricted to moist grassland astheir major habitat. D.draconmontanum comes from the Drakensberg range from the Orange Free State to the eastern Cape. It can be so common as to dominate entire mountain slopes between 5000' and 9000'. It has slightly broader leaved than the more common form with dark dusky terracotta pink flowers which flare open, crowded towards the end of the pendulous stems. A very pretty plant Summer 28"
Planting instructions
Plant the corms in a sunny site in good soil, not waterlogged in winter and not too dry in summer. Plant 4" deep, be patient as it is slow to establish.
