Heavier clay soils seem to offer no serious obstacle to Hellebores and most H. orientalis are perfectly happy in sun or shade where they compliment the spring display with their long flowering season. These are offered as potted plants to be planted in the ground in the autumn to flower in the spring. They are quite heavy and are unsuitable to be sent overseas.
