Iris tuberosa (hermodactylus) Blue Jade

A kingfisher blue and sooty-black selection of the mourning widow iris. Recently found in Crete by the plantsman John Fielding. A striking blue variant on the familiar olive and black mourning widow iris, its flowers have all the iridesence of a damselfly. As shown at the RHS March shows in Vincent Square over past years and enthusiastically written up at the time by Mark Griffiths in the Times.  Flowering in April at 6" (15cm) tall.

Planting instructions

The Iris tuberosa does better from early planting. Requiring time to establish, plant in full sun, loves it around heat absorbing sun-drenched paving
