This is from the range of Xiphium Irises (Spanish Iris) created in the Netherlands in 1891. The florists use them to good effect in the late spring and summer but why limit yourself to cut flower when the bulbs are reasonably inexpensiveand when you could easily grow your own? On their own roots they are likely to last longer than cut flowers too! I Oriental Beauty has smokey blue standards with strong yellow falls - looking like a bird in flight says one description - certainly distinctly elegant, yet asking to be gently touched.
Planting instructions
Plant the bulbs 4" (10cm) deep and 4-6” (10-15cm) apart in a well drained position in full sun or very light shade. Water well on planting, and thereafter moderately.
