Growing from small summer dormant corms from Southern Africa where they grow in very varied situations these emerge too early in the year to be really described as hardy. However they will take a small degree of frost but are either restricted out of doors to warmer gardens or warmer positions within gardens. They can make very colourful pot plants in deep pots filled with John Innes No 2 compost.
