Plants of upland areas in tropical and southern Africa where they inhabit the moist places in rough grassland. Named after Wol Staines, whose fame does extend beyond "just" snowdrops, a good red form with generally slightly smaller heads though prolific when established. Summer to 30". Supplied in 1L pots which will grow away well.
Planting instructions
Good drainage needed, they dislike waterlogging. Best in fairly full sun and in warmer soils. Plant them in good conditions, water as necessary to establish them in the late spring and early summer, remember some slug pellets around the area 'in case' and wait for the summer flourish. If you are planting more than one plant them about 14" apart, and if different varieties a little further away from one another.
