Otherwise known as Red Hot Pokers. Although thought to need dry stoney and very well drained soils, we now have clumps in our heavy loam soils. In cold areas one may need to mulch the crown against long term freeze ups. They last for ages in flower and offer vertical accents of colour in the late sumer with very little trouble at all.
