Small South African bulbs which do not like it wet in winter when dormant, so they either need very well drained conditions ( we know a garden near Glasgow where thet grow undisturbed outdoors because of the free draining situation) or potted in a mesh pot in which they can be plunged in the garden all summer and lifted in their pot for a dry winter rest with the Dahlias.
With their spiky low leaves and cheerful colours, these are always popular in pots. However, they are very promiscuous and so we have a mixed lot to part with. In varying shades of pink, red or white. An ideal subject for a low summer sink - dead heading results in another flush of flowers. Summer 4" (10cm)
Planting instructions
Plant into rich but gritty soil 2" deep 2" apart best in a pot plunged into sunny soil receiving summer rain. Lift pot, store dry & frost free over winter.
