Scilla autumnalis
Hardy but uncommon natives of South-West England including the Avon Gorge in Bristol, these are incredibly long-lasting in flower. Lifting them from the ground does not stop them, they flower regardless. Increase from seed is not difficult, though it takes some time to achieve flowering size. Flowers between August and /October to 5" (12.5cm). (Spring-flowering Scilla appear in the Autumn Planting section.)
