Tulipa clusiana Lady Jane
A fairly recent selection of Tulipa clusiana (the Lady Tulip) from Iraq, Iran and Afghanistan. The flower in April is rosy red with an ivory white petal margins and 10" (25 cm ) tall. The interior is ivory with yellow at the base. The foliage grey-green. Easy to grow in any light soil in the sun, they ought to be grown in situations where they are slightly sheltered from strong wind.
Planting instructions
The bulbs, which characteristically have a tuft of soft hairs protruding at the apex, need to be planted about 3” (7cm) deep and 3-4” (7-10cm) apart, or 15 per square foot, in sunny well drained soil. Beware of squirrel or mice damage.
