Tulipa The First
A hybrid of T. kaufmanniana and T. greigii this tulip has pointy petals with maroon streaks on its leaves. The inner petals are white with a yellow base, while the three outer petals have a red streak down the centre, so that when first open the flower is red and white, but in the full sun it opens to the “Water Lily” Tulip shape of its kaufmanniana parent. It flowers very early in March and lasts into April. The plant stands 9” (22cm) tall and is ideal for window boxes or raised beds.
Planting instruction
