A species from California where it grows on shady canyon slopes in the Sierra Nevada around 1200m. Star shaped flowers in pale pink with grey, rather limp leaves, Extremely floriferous. They need good drainage and drier summer rest. Naturally small bulbs setting lots of seed. They will survive the winter outside with no ill effects.
Allium hyalinum bulbs should be planted 2" (5cm) deep in a free draining soil and they will benefit from a dry summer rest.
