Dichelostemma congestum is from the west of the USA and produces a compact hen's egg sized ball formed of a very long-lasting lilac-purple flowers, somewhat like an Allium on a more delicate but wiry stem and they will grow where Alliums grow. Be careful of the sap which is caustic.
Dichelostemma congestum bulbs should be planted about 2-3" (5-8cm) apart, and 3-4" (8-10cm) deep in a sunny, sheltered site on well drained soil. Be careful of the sap which is caustic.
