Fritillaria elwesii is a native of southern Turkey. It is dark stemmed with narrow green and purple flowers covered in a fine bloom. Despite being from the eastern Mediterranean and will take the British cold, but will do better with a dry summer rest, so grow in a well drained soil. As it is quite tall it is best to avoid really windy sites.
Fritillaria elwesii bulbs should be planted 4" (10cm) deep and 4" (10cm) apart in a warm, well drained soil with sun or part shade and not too windy a position.
