Narcissus Sweetness lives up to its name and its ability to produce a great scent has resulted in it being used in breeding programs the results of which are interesting. Only 12 Daffodils have won the Wister Award, top honour of the American Daffodil Society and they are all progeny of Sweetness! It is all yellow with reasonably fine and narrow foliage and is an easy grower in any sunny situation.
Narcissus Sweetness has been awarded the RHS Award of Garden Merit because it has proved to be reliable in appropriate conditions and a good performing plant.
Narcissus Sweetness bulbs should be planted in any reasonably sunny spot where you can catch the perfume. Plant them quite deeply with 4-6" (10-15cm) of soil over the bulb, where they will remain cool, moist and safe from activity above them in the summer. They should clump up from being planted about 4" (10cm) apart, further apart for more ''relaxed'' planting. We would suggest you plant them in distinct groups and not randomly as the effect is generally better. Do not be tempted to cut back or tidy the foliage after flowering as this period of replenishment of the bulb''s starchy food reserves is critical to future flowering. A liquid feed while starchy leaves are still green will benefit clumps in poorer soil.
