Polygonatum Betberg is named after the German village in the Black Forest near Laufen where it was first found. The stems and leaves a dark chocolate brown when they emerge, but this effect is a bit variable in my experience and I think that is down to the amount of direct sunlight and the phase of growth at the time, but when it happens it is very dramatic. This dark foliage is a marked contrast against the white flowers. As the season progresses the leaves become more olive green.

Planting Instructions

Polygonatum Betberg are hardy perennials that grow in most situations preferring the more moisture retentive heavier soil types. They will mostly grow rather taller in the shade. Plant 4-5" (10-12cm) deep and 4" (10cm) apart. For woodland or similar situations of shade or part shade.
