Found together with Long John Silver, this is more buried treasure from Veronica Cross' garden. A vigorous plant with paddle shaped outer petals, nicely slimmed at the base to show the darkly marked inner segments but wide below to accommodate the broad flash of green. A nicely arched pedicel let the flowers hang gracefully. Perfection ? Supplied as dormant bulbs.
Plant the bulbs immediately. If planting them in the ground use the smallest size of aquatic mesh pots to aid containment and identification. Fill with improved soil based potting medium and a little sharp sand. Label carefully and water sparingly until autumn.
