Named in 1877 after Mr Sanders of Newnham, Cambridge for bulbs collected in Northumberland. Showing yellow markings on the inner segments and, usually, a golden ovary. Supplied as dormant bulbs.
Plant the bulbs immediately. If planting them in the ground use the smallest size of aquatic mesh pots to aid containment and identification. Fill with improved soil based potting medium and a little sharp sand. Label carefully and water sparingly until autumn.
