A hardy annual suitable for any soil but it must be grown in a sunny position. The common name of "Love in the Mist"is suggested by the way the the flower is held in a nest of lacy bracts. This form is not the normal blue butopens white and matures to a wonderful antique pink, perhaps a form called Persian Rose. Originally from southern Europe, these grow to between 8-20" (20-50cm) tall. They are easy to grow and are especially useful for providing colourful ground cover in poorer soils.
Sow the seeds thinly directly into the soil covering them lightly, in the early autumn and again in the early spring for a succession of flowers. They set bladder-like seed pods after flowering and should self sow in succeeding years.
Height 8-20" (20-50cm)
