Delivered to you from April
The early leaves are strongly yellow margined - from emergence all through the early spring - so clumps of these are outstanding for their foliage alone at that time of year. Whilst the colours on the ligtu form will vary, those of Frances are all the same, an attractive pale biscuit pink. Supplied from pots.
Plant 2-3" (50-75 mm) deeper than currently potted and 24" (60cm) apart on a gravelly cushion to increase the drainage below them. Best planted in a warm sheltered and sunny site to establish themselves. Slugs can find the young shoots attractive. They will grow in well drained soil or heavier soils provided they are not waterlogged. It is hardy and deciduous but might need some protection during the coldest of winters. In colder areas it will benefit from planting near a south facing wall which is a good backdrop to the flowers anyway. Fabulously attractive early foliage is very variegated. Soft biscuit-pink coloured flowers, they are about 24-36" (60-90 cm) tall in mid summer and good for cutting.
Flowers June/July
Height 24-36" (60-90cm)
