Delphinium ‘Deep Rose White Bee’ is a beautiful way to bring height and romantic colour into the summer border. It forms tall, elegant spires packed with deep rose-pink blooms, each one finished with a crisp white “bee” at the centre for a striking contrast. Perfect for classic cottage-garden planting, this delphinium adds structure and wow-factor at the back of borders, and it’s also fantastic for cutting—those long stems make instant, showy arrangements.

Delphiniums love good soil and a little attention, and they’ll reward you with a standout display. If you deadhead after the first flush, you’ll often encourage a second round of flowers later in the season too.

Planting Instructions

When to Plant:

Plant in spring or autumn, when the soil is moist and workable. Container-grown plants can be planted at most times of year, but avoid frozen or waterlogged ground.

Where to Plant:
Choose a sunny or lightly shaded position with fertile, moisture-retentive but well-drained soil. Delphiniums love good soil and regular feeding. Ideal for the back of borders, cottage gardens, and cutting gardens. A sheltered spot is best, as tall flower spikes can be affected by strong winds.

How to Plant:

  • Depth: Plant at the same depth as it is in the pot, with the crown level with the soil surface.
  • Spacing: Space 45–60 cm (18–24 inches) apart to allow good airflow and room to grow.
  • Soil Prep: Dig in well-rotted compost or manure before planting to boost moisture retention and flowering.

Watering:
Water well after planting and keep the soil evenly moist during dry spells, especially in spring and early summer. Mulching helps keep roots cool and reduces watering needs.

Aftercare Tips:

  • Stake early to support tall stems and prevent wind damage.
  • Feed in spring and again as buds form for the best flower spikes (a general fertiliser or high potash feed works well).
  • Deadhead spent flower stems to encourage a second flush later in the season.
  • Cut back stems after flowering and tidy old growth in autumn or early spring.

Top Tip:
Deep rose delphiniums look gorgeous with soft whites and blues—try pairing with Shasta daisies, Nepeta and pale roses for a dreamy cottage-garden combination.
