Rudbeckia ‘Goldsturm’ is one of the very best late-summer perennials for reliable colour. It forms sturdy clumps of deep green foliage topped with masses of golden-yellow, daisy-like flowers with distinctive dark chocolate-brown centres—the classic “black-eyed Susan” look. Flowering for weeks from mid-summer into autumn, it’s a real lifesaver for keeping borders bright when many earlier plants have finished, and it’s also a magnet for bees and butterflies.

It’s ideal for mixed borders, prairie-style planting and wildlife-friendly schemes, and it looks fantastic planted in drifts with ornamental grasses, salvias and echinacea. Tough, easy and very floriferous—this is a garden staple for good reason.

When to Plant:

Plant in spring or autumn, while the soil is moist and workable.

Where to Plant:
Choose a position in full sun (best for flowering) or light/partial shade with moisture-retentive, well-drained soil. Rudbeckia ‘Goldsturm’ is ideal for mixed borders, prairie-style planting, wildlife-friendly gardens and cutting beds.

How to Plant:

• Depth: Plant so the crown is level with the soil surface.
• Spacing: Space plants 35–45 cm (14–18 inches) apart to allow clumps to fill out.
• Soil Prep: Mix in garden compost to help retain moisture and support strong summer flowering.

Watering:
Water well after planting. Keep the soil evenly moist while the plant establishes. Once established, Rudbeckia is fairly hardy, but it flowers best with watering during prolonged dry spells.
