Astilbe ‘Ivory Pearls’ is a beautifully elegant perennial that brings a soft, glowing touch to shadier borders. It produces airy, feathery flower plumes in creamy ivory-white, held above lush, fern-like foliage that stays attractive all season. It’s perfect for brightening woodland-style planting, adding light to mixed borders, and creating a calm, romantic look alongside Hostas, Ferns and Heucheras. Astilbes also work brilliantly near water or in moisture-retentive beds, where they really thrive.
If you’ve got a border that needs a lift in partial shade, ‘Ivory Pearls’ is a gorgeous, dependable choice.
When to Plant:
Plant in spring or autumn, while the soil is moist and workable. Container-grown plants can be planted at most times of year, avoiding frozen or waterlogged conditions.
Where to Plant:
Choose a position in partial shade (or light sun if the soil stays reliably moist) with moist, fertile, well-drained soil. Astilbe is ideal for shady borders, woodland planting, along streams or ponds, and moist mixed borders. Avoid hot, baking sun and very dry soil.
How to Plant:
Watering:
Water well after planting and keep the soil consistently moist, especially in the first season and during dry spells. Astilbes do not like drying out.
