Hemerocallis ‘Little Grapette’ is a compact, jewel-like daylily that produces masses of rich, grape-purple flowers with a brighter, rosy-magenta throat and gently ruffled petals. Despite each bloom lasting just a day (hence “daylily”), this variety is wonderfully free-flowering, sending up fresh buds over many weeks so the show keeps on coming. It’s a brilliant choice for the front of sunny borders, edging paths, containers, and low-maintenance cottage or contemporary schemes.
A real garden “grafter”, ‘Little Grapette’ is hardy, reliable and tolerant of a wide range of soils once established. The strappy, arching foliage forms a neat clump that looks good from spring through autumn, and it’s also a great plant for pollinators. Fun fact: daylilies are known for their resilience—many gardeners call them the “perfect perennial” because they cope well with heat, occasional drought, and even a bit of neglect, while still flowering generously year after year.
When to Plant:
Plant in spring or autumn, while the soil is moist and workable.
Where to Plant:
