Hemerocallis ‘Mount Helena’ is a wonderfully reliable daylily that brings effortless summer colour with beautifully shaped, trumpet-like blooms held above neat, arching, strap-shaped foliage. Each flower may only last a day (hence the name), but don’t worry—this plant produces lots of buds over many weeks, so you get a continual parade of flowers through the season. Daylilies are famous for being tough as old boots: they cope with heat, short dry spells, wind, and a wide range of soils, while still looking smart and tidy.
As well as being a brilliant border plant, ‘Mount Helena’ is ideal for mass planting, edging paths, filling gaps, and even growing in large pots. It’s also a great choice for low-maintenance gardens—once established it will come back bigger and better each year. A fun fact: Hemerocallis flowers are often lightly scented and the plants are valued worldwide because they’re long-lived, hardy, and rarely troubled by pests.
