Planting Instructions

When to Plant:

Plant in autumn or early spring while the soil is moist and workable. Autumn planting is ideal as it allows roots to establish before the growing season.

Where to Plant:
Choose a sunny or lightly shaded position with fertile, well-drained soil. Peonies thrive in open positions where air can circulate freely. Ideal for mixed borders, cottage gardens, and cutting gardens.

How to Plant:
Plant crowns so that the eyes (buds) sit no more than 3–5 cm below the soil surface. Planting too deeply may reduce flowering. Space plants approximately 60–90 cm apart to allow room for mature growth.

Aftercare:
Water well after planting and during dry periods in the first season. Apply a balanced fertiliser in spring and remove faded blooms to keep plants tidy. Foliage should be cut back to ground level in autumn once it dies down naturally.
