A modern, ornamental variety bred for its elegant pale blooms, it carries the legacy of a plant once central to seasonal feasts and trade routes. Its soft, creamy-white star-shaped flowers rise on tall, slender stems in late spring, swaying gently above strappy green foliage. Ideal for borders, meadow-style gardens or damp, open woodland edges, it thrives in moist, well-drained soil in sun or partial shade. Perfect for adding vertical charm and a gentle luminosity to your garden, especially when planted in groups or drifts among other late-spring bulbs and perennials. Loved by pollinators too.
Where to Plant:
Choose a spot in sun or partial shade. Camassias are particularly suited to moist but well-drained soils, including heavy clay that doesn't dry out in spring.
How to Plant:
Watering & Aftercare:
Water well after planting. In dry springs, provide extra water to encourage strong growth. Once established, Camassias require little maintenance and will naturalise beautifully over time.
Tip: Great for planting among grasses or at the edge of ponds. Leave foliage to die back naturally to feed the bulb for next year’s growth.
Flowering Time:
Blooms in late spring to early summer (typically May–June), with tall, elegant flower spikes ideal for cutting.
Height:
20" (50cm)
