Sparaxis

Sparaxis, often called Harlequin Flower, is a little spring and early-summer gem that punches well above its weight. Each slim stem carries bright, starry blooms in vivid mixes of orange, red, pink, yellow and white, usually with a contrasting “eye” in the centre — like tiny stained-glass flowers dancing above grassy foliage.

Perfect for pots, borders and gravel gardens, Sparaxis is ideal for adding a splash of colour in a sunny spot, and it looks especially stunning planted in groups for a bold, jewel-like display. Plant the corms in well-drained soil, enjoy the cheerful flowers as the weather warms, and then let the foliage die back naturally to help fuel next year’s show.
