With its statuesque presence and rich rose-pink petals elegantly flushed with cherry and soft salmon undertones, Tulipa ‘Renown’ is a true standout among late-season tulips. Belonging to the esteemed Single Late group, it offers both height and grace, often reaching up to 60cm tall—making it ideal for creating vertical drama in borders or as a showpiece in containers.

This variety blooms when most tulips are beginning to fade, extending the season with its regal colour and timeless form. Its sturdy stems withstand wind and rain, while the long-lasting blooms are perfect for cutting, bringing their sophisticated charm indoors. Renown thrives best in full sun and well-drained soil, returning with vigour when planted deeply and left undisturbed.

Whether planted in bold drifts or mixed with soft whites, deep purples, or early perennials, Tulipa ‘Renown’ brings poise, polish, and a flush of late spring splendour to any garden scheme.

Planting Instructions

When to Plant:

Plant bulbs in autumn, between September and November, before the ground freezes.

Where to Plant:
Choose a sunny, well-drained spot. ‘Renown’ thrives in garden beds, mixed borders, and containers, and benefits from shelter from strong winds due to its height.

How to Plant:

  • Depth: Plant bulbs 15 cm (6 inches) deep.
  • Spacing: Leave 10–12 cm (4–5 inches) between bulbs.
  • Postion: Set bulbs with the pointed tip facing upward.

Watering:
Water well after planting. Natural rainfall is usually sufficient through winter. Avoid planting in waterlogged areas.

Aftercare Tips:

  • Deadhead flowers once they fade, but let the foliage die back naturally—this helps the bulb store energy for next season.
  • In containers or poor soils, feed in early spring with a balanced fertiliser as the leaves emerge.
  • May benefit from lifting and replanting every few years to maintain vigour.

Top Tip:
Plant in groups of 7 or more for a bold display, or mix with late-flowering whites and purples for a graceful, layered look. Tulipa ‘Renown’ also makes an outstanding cut flower—harvest just as the buds begin to open for longest vase life.
