Tulipa Queensland is a showstopper among spring bulbs, captivating with its lavish, double blooms in rich shades of cerise-pink, each petal edged in a delicate, finely fringed ivory lace. These opulent flowers rise on strong, sturdy stems and bring a striking elegance to beds, borders, and containers alike.

A member of the fringed tulip group, Queensland combines romantic charm with a touch of the exotic, flowering late in the tulip season when the garden craves renewed drama and colour. Its luxurious, peony-like form makes it equally impressive in the garden and as a long-lasting cut flower for vases indoors.

Plant in groups for a truly sumptuous display or weave it through pastel companions for a bold contrast. Hardy and easy to grow, Tulipa Queensland rewards with season after season of enchanting spring beauty.

Planting Instructions

When to Plant:

Plant bulbs in autumn, from September to November, before the first hard frost.

Where to Plant:
Choose a sunny spot with well-drained soil. Tulips dislike waterlogged ground, so if necessary, improve drainage by adding grit or planting in raised beds or containers.

How to Plant:

  • Depth: Plant each bulb 10–15cm (4–6 inches) deep.
  • Spacing: Space bulbs around 8–10cm (3–4 inches) apart.
  • Tip: Plant with the pointed end facing upwards.

Aftercare:
Water well after planting, but do not overwater. Once flowering finishes in spring, allow the foliage to die back naturally to feed the bulb for next year’s growth.

Top Tip:
For a long-lasting and luxurious display, plant Tulipa ‘Queensland’ in groups and combine with other late-season tulips or contrasting foliage plants.
