Tulipa Prinses Irene has an earthy mix of oranges, marmalade and purple, but unlikely as it seems they work brilliantly together. This is a great favourite, with low reddish marked leaves and on short stem it is less affected by poor weather and adding in a huge scent, one can see why it is so popular.

RHS Award of Garden Merit.

Tulipa Prinses Irene has been awarded the RHS Award of Garden Merit because it has proved to be reliable in appropriate conditions and a good performing plant. These bulbs are losing their skins now, that will not however affect their growth or flowering.

Planting Instructions

Tulipa Prinses Irene bulbs should be planted 5"(12cm) deep and 5" (12cm) apart, or allow 7-9 per square foot in well drained soil with a sunny aspect. Don''t be in a rush to get the tulips in the ground as they will benefit from planting in late October or early November, by which time the first frosts will have reduced the level of disease in the soil.
