Christmas Conica - 15cm Zinc Pot

Our small potted Conica trees make wonderfully charming, living Christmas decorations, bringing a touch of real greenery to your festive displays. Naturally neat and cone-shaped, they are perfectly proportioned for a table centrepiece, a welcoming doorstep, a hallway console or a bright windowsill. Their fresh, soft needles and tidy outline look effortlessly elegant on their own, and even more magical when dressed with a short string of fairy lights, a few tiny baubles or a simple ribbon.

These little trees are easy to look after over the festive period. Keep the compost just moist (never waterlogged) and place them in a cool, bright spot away from direct heat sources such as radiators or wood burners. Treated kindly, they will stay looking fresh and cheerful right through Christmas and into the New Year.

After the decorations come down, your Conica doesn’t need to be thrown away. It can be planted out into the garden or moved into a larger pot outdoors, where it will slowly grow on into an attractive, compact conifer – a lasting reminder of Christmases past. Over time it can be lightly decorated again each year, becoming a small but much-loved part of your seasonal traditions.

Where to Grow

• Best in full sun or light shade.
• Suitable for containers, rockeries, or borders.
• Prefers a sheltered spot away from strong, drying winds.

Growing in Pots

• Keep in its pot or replant into a larger container with drainage holes.
• Use peat-free multipurpose compost, and consider adding grit for better drainage.
• Raise the pot slightly off the ground in winter to prevent waterlogging.

Planting in the Ground

• Choose a spot with moist but well-drained soil.
• Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball and the same depth.
• Firm in gently and water well after planting.

Watering & Feeding

• Water regularly, especially in dry periods or if grown in a pot.
• Feed in spring with a balanced slow-release fertiliser or use a liquid feed every few weeks during the growing season.

Maintenance

• Minimal pruning needed – just remove any brown or damaged growth.
• Light shaping can be done in late spring if desired.

Winter Tips

• Hardy throughout the UK.
• In pots, protect from excessive winter wet by raising the container slightly.
