With its elegant white nodding flowers heralding the end of winter and broad, glossy green leaves, a graceful habit, it adds a luminous charm to shady borders, woodland gardens, or beneath deciduous trees. Plant in moist, well-drained soil with dappled light. Allow them to naturalise undisturbed for a gentle carpet of snowdrops year after year. A quietly exquisite variety, beloved for its enduring beauty and resilience.

Planting Instructions

When to Plant:
Plant Galanthus woronowii bulbs in early autumn (September to October), while the soil is still warm. This ensures good root development before winter.

Where to Plant:
Choose a part-shaded spot, ideally beneath deciduous trees or shrubs, where winter sunlight reaches but summer shade helps bulbs stay cool and dormant. They thrive in humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil.

How to Plant:

  • Depth: Plant bulbs 5–7 cm (2–3 inches) deep.
  • Spacing: Leave 5–7 cm (2–3 inches) between bulbs for a natural look.
  • Position with the pointed end facing upwards.

Aftercare:
Keep the soil moist during their growing season (late winter to early spring), but avoid waterlogging. Let the foliage die back naturally after flowering, as this feeds the bulb for next year. Avoid disturbing clumps once established — Galanthus woronowii is happiest left to naturalise.

Top Tip:
For best results, plant promptly after delivery to prevent bulbs drying out. Adding leaf mould or compost at planting can help replicate their native woodland habitat.
