Lilium ‘Pink Morning’ is a wonderfully elegant Martagon hybrid (Turk’s cap lily), loved for its graceful, nodding flowers that look like little lanterns hanging from tall stems. Each bloom has soft pale pink, strongly recurved petals, often edged in white and delicately freckled with darker spots, giving it a refined, almost woodland-fairy feel. It’s also lightly fragrant, so it’s a lovely choice near paths or a quiet seating area.
A real bonus with martagons is their natural, airy habit — they’re ideal for weaving through shrubs, ferns and shade-loving perennials, and once settled they can flower reliably for years. Mature plants can carry lots of blooms per stem (often dozens on well-established bulbs), making them an incredible value-for-impact plant in early to mid-summer.
When to Plant:
Plant bulbs in autumn (ideal) or in spring when the soil is workable. Avoid planting when the ground is frozen or waterlogged.
Where to Plant:
Choose a position in partial shade or dappled shade with humus-rich, moisture-retentive but well-drained soil. Martagon lilies are ideal for woodland-style borders and look beautiful growing between shrubs where their tall stems can rise through other planting.
How to Plant:
Watering:
Water well after planting. Keep soil evenly moist in spring and early summer while growth is active, but avoid waterlogging.
