Onion ‘Red Baron’ is a popular red onion variety, loved for its deep red skins, attractive colour in the kitchen, and crisp, punchy flavour. When to Plant:
Plant onion sets in spring (typically March to April) when the soil is workable. In milder areas, you can also plant in autumn for an earlier crop, as long as conditions are not waterlogged.
Where to Plant:
Choose a sunny, open position with fertile, well-drained soil. Onions prefer soil that isn’t too rich in fresh manure. Ideal for vegetable beds, raised beds and allotments.

Water after planting if the soil is dry. Once growing well, onions need little watering, but do water during prolonged dry spells. Reduce watering as bulbs swell to help them ripen.
