A truly exceptional snowdrop, Galanthus 'Godfrey Owen' is one of the most distinctive and sought-after varieties, admired for its rare and perfectly symmetrical flowers. Unlike traditional snowdrops with three outer petals and three much smaller inner petals, 'Godfrey Owen' produces six almost identical pure white petals, giving each bloom the appearance of a miniature white waterlily or star.
Discovered in the 1990s by renowned Welsh plantsman Godfrey Owen, this remarkable natural mutation quickly became one of the most celebrated introductions in the snowdrop world. Its elegant, fully open flowers create a striking display that stands out amongst more traditional snowdrops, making it highly prized by collectors whilst remaining wonderfully easy to grow.
Flowering from late winter into early spring, the graceful blooms are carried above neat grey-green foliage and provide an invaluable early nectar source for bees on mild days. Over time, 'Godfrey Owen' slowly develops into beautiful clumps, making it an excellent choice for woodland gardens, shaded borders and naturalised planting beneath deciduous trees.
A true collector's snowdrop that combines rarity with outstanding garden performance, Galanthus 'Godfrey Owen' is certain to become a treasured feature of the late winter garden.
