Achillea ‘Coronation Gold’ is a superb, reliable yarrow with large, flat-topped clusters of rich golden-yellow flowers held on strong, upright stems above beautifully feathery, grey-green foliage. It’s a real workhorse for sunny borders, prairie-style planting and gravel gardens—tough, long-flowering and drought tolerant once established. Brilliant for pollinators and excellent as a cut flower (fresh or dried), it also adds structure and repeat colour through the summer months.

Planting Instructions

When to Plant:

Plant in spring or autumn, while the soil is moist and workable.

Where to Plant:
Choose a sunny position with well-drained soil. ‘Coronation Gold’ thrives in poor or moderately fertile soils and is ideal for dry borders, wildlife gardens, and Mediterranean-style planting schemes.

How to Plant:

  • Depth: Plant so that the crown is level with the soil surface.
  • Spacing: Space plants 30–40 cm (12–16 inches) apart.
  • Soil Prep: Avoid rich soil or heavy feeding—it prefers leaner conditions to promote strong, upright growth.

Watering:
Water thoroughly after planting. Once established, Achillea ‘Coronation Gold’ is highly drought tolerant and requires minimal watering.

Aftercare Tips:

  • Deadhead regularly to prolong flowering throughout summer.
  • Cut back to the base after flowering is finished or in late autumn to tidy up.
  • Divide clumps every 2–3 years in spring or early autumn to rejuvenate and prevent overcrowding.
