Delphinium

Delphiniums are the ultimate statement plant, sending up tall, elegant spires packed with richly coloured blooms that instantly add height, drama and classic cottage-garden charm. Flowering through early to mid-summer (often with a second flush after cutting back), they come in stunning shades of deep blue, indigo, purple, pink and white – and they’re fantastic for pollinators and for cutting. Delphiniums love a sunny spot with fertile, moisture-retentive soil and a little shelter from strong winds. Plant them through borders for a “wow” moment at the back of beds, or use them as standout pillars among roses and other perennials.
