Create a bold and colourful statement in your garden with this stunning Lupin Legendary Collection, featuring three outstanding varieties in rich blue, pure white and vibrant red, supplied as strong 2 litre plants.

This collection includes three plants of each variety, giving you a ready-made planting scheme that delivers height, structure and a spectacular early summer display. Lupins are classic cottage garden favourites, producing tall, densely packed flower spikes that rise elegantly above lush green foliage.

The Legendary series is known for its strong stems, excellent garden performance and vibrant, long-lasting blooms. Together, these three colours create a striking visual impact, whether planted in bold drifts through borders or arranged in groups for a more structured look.

Highly attractive to bees and pollinators, Lupins are not only beautiful but also beneficial for wildlife-friendly gardens. Their vertical habit makes them perfect for adding height to mixed borders, while their bold colours pair beautifully with softer perennials and ornamental grasses.

Supplied as established 2L plants, this collection offers instant impact and reliable performance, making it ideal for gardeners looking to achieve a professional-looking display with ease.

Planting Instructions

When to Plant:

Plant Lupins in spring or autumn when the soil is workable. Avoid planting during hard frost or into waterlogged ground.

Where to Plant:
Choose a position in full sun or partial shade with well-drained soil. Lupins prefer a sheltered spot protected from strong winds, as their tall flower spikes can be vulnerable in exposed areas.

How to Plant:

  • Depth: Plant so the top of the rootball sits level with the soil surface.
  • Spacing: Space plants about 40–50 cm (16–20 inches) apart.
  • Soil Prep: Improve soil with garden compost. Avoid very rich manure, as this can encourage leafy growth over flowers.

Watering:
Water well after planting and keep the soil moist while plants establish. Once established, Lupins are fairly drought tolerant but benefit from watering during prolonged dry spells.

Aftercare Tips:

  • Deadhead spent flower spikes to encourage a second flush of blooms.
  • Stake taller plants in exposed areas to prevent wind damage.
  • Cut back foliage in autumn once it has died down.

Top Tip:
Plant this collection in groups or drifts for a bold, high-impact display of colour. Lupins look particularly effective in cottage garden schemes alongside roses and soft perennials.
