Delivered to you from late September / Early October
Known as Bulgarian honey garlic or Sicilian honey garlic due to its historical and geographical distribution, as well as its characteristic garlic-like scent and honey-like nectar this Allium is defiantly one for the collection. With its graceful nodding, bell-shaped flowers and its blend of reddish-brown, creamy white and green bells it adds a touch of fairy tale to the garden.
When to Plant:
Plant in autumn, from September to November, before the first hard frost.
Where to Plant:
Choose a sunny or partially shaded spot with well-drained soil. This species is tolerant of a range of soil types but dislikes overly wet conditions, especially in winter.
How to Plant:
Aftercare:
Water sparingly during dry spells, but do not overwater. After flowering, allow foliage to die back naturally to feed the bulb for next year. Bulbs can be left undisturbed to naturalise and multiply.
Flowering Time:
Blooms in late spring to early summer (May–June), with elegant, nodding bell-shaped flowers that gradually lift and open in a charming display.
Height:
Grows to around 80–100 cm (32–40 inches) – ideal for middle or back of borders, or among grasses and perennials.
