Delicate and full of spring charm, Anemone blanda ‘Charmer’ produces masses of soft rosy-pink daisy-like flowers with bright golden centres, bringing gentle colour and freshness to the early spring garden.

The elegant blooms are carried above finely divided fern-like foliage, creating a light and natural appearance that blends beautifully into woodland-style planting, borders and rockeries. Flowering low to the ground, they are especially effective planted in drifts where they gradually form colourful carpets over time.

Like other Grecian windflowers, ‘Charmer’ originates from the Mediterranean region and has long been valued for its easy-going nature, reliability and ability to naturalise gently in suitable conditions.

Perfect for woodland gardens, containers, borders and planting beneath deciduous trees, the flowers are also highly attractive to early pollinators, providing an important source of nectar in spring.

Easy to grow and wonderfully rewarding, Anemone blanda ‘Charmer’ adds soft spring colour and natural beauty to the garden year after year.

Planting Instructions

When to Plant:

Plant Anemone blanda corms in autumn for flowering the following spring. They can also be planted in early spring if conditions allow.

Where to Plant:
Choose a position in full sun or partial shade with well-drained soil. Anemone blanda is perfect for woodland gardens, borders, rockeries, lawns and naturalising beneath deciduous trees.

How to Plant:

  • Preparation: Soak corms in lukewarm water for 3–4 hours before planting to help encourage faster growth.
  • Depth: Plant corms about 5 cm (2 inches) deep.
  • Spacing: Space corms approximately 5–8 cm (2–3 inches) apart.
  • Soil Prep: Improve soil with compost or leaf mould before planting.

Watering:
Water after planting and keep the soil lightly moist during active growth, avoiding waterlogged conditions.

Aftercare Tips:

  • Allow foliage to die back naturally after flowering to feed the corms for the following year.
  • Leave undisturbed to naturalise and spread gradually over time.
  • Avoid excessively wet winter conditions.

Top Tip:
Plant in generous drifts beneath deciduous trees or through borders for a soft, naturalised spring display full of colour and movement.
