A spectacular blend of richly coloured, fully double blooms, Anemone coronaria 'St Brigid Mix' brings vibrant spring colour to borders, containers and cutting gardens. This beautiful mixture includes shades of scarlet, rose pink, violet, blue, purple and white, creating a dazzling display that lasts for weeks.

The St Brigid Group is renowned for its large, peony-like flowers, packed with layers of silky petals that add texture and elegance to the spring garden. Originally developed in Ireland in the late 19th century, these magnificent anemones remain among the finest cut flowers available today, producing armfuls of blooms for the vase.

Held above finely divided fern-like foliage, the flowers create a light and airy effect while providing valuable early-season nectar for bees and other pollinating insects. Planted in generous drifts, they form a vibrant tapestry of colour that brightens borders from mid-spring into early summer.

Easy to grow and exceptionally rewarding, St Brigid Mix is perfect for gardeners of all experience levels and is one of the most colourful and versatile spring-flowering corms available.

Planting Instructions

When to Plant:

Plant Anemone coronaria corms in autumn or spring. For best results, soak the corms in lukewarm water for 3–4 hours before planting to encourage faster establishment and stronger growth.

Where to Plant:
Choose a position in full sun or partial shade with fertile, well-drained soil. Anemones are perfect for borders, containers, cutting gardens and naturalised planting schemes.

How to Plant:

  • Depth: Plant corms approximately 5 cm (2 inches) deep.
  • Spacing: Space corms about 10 cm (4 inches) apart.
  • Soil Prep: Incorporate compost or organic matter before planting. Improve heavy soils with grit to aid drainage.

Watering:
Water thoroughly after planting and keep the soil lightly moist while growth is developing. Avoid waterlogged conditions.

Aftercare Tips:

  • Deadhead spent flowers to encourage a longer flowering display.
  • Allow foliage to die back naturally after flowering.
  • Apply a winter mulch in colder areas for additional protection.

Top Tip:
Plant in generous groups of 15–25 corms for a spectacular carpet of colour and a plentiful supply of cut flowers throughout spring.
