Bringing a burst of early spring charm with its starry, violet-lavender blooms and bright white centres. These low-growing beauties shine before the canopy fills. Plant in well-drained soil, ideally in full sun or dappled shade. Hardy and undemanding, they thrive in borders, gravel gardens or containers and return reliably each year. A cheerful, pollinator-friendly addition that pairs beautifully with snowdrops and crocuses, heralding spring’s arrival in style

Planting Instructions

When to Plant:

Plant in autumn, typically between September and November, before the ground freezes.

Where to Plant:
Choose a spot in full sun or partial shade. Chionodoxa thrives in well-drained soil and naturalises beautifully in borders, rockeries, under trees, or in grassy areas.

How to Plant:

  • Depth: 5–8 cm (2–3 inches)
  • Spacing: 5–8 cm apart
  • Position bulbs with the pointed end facing upwards.

Care Tips:

  • Water after planting to help settle the soil.
  • Allow foliage to die back naturally after flowering to feed the bulb for next year.
  • Once established, they return year after year with minimal fuss.

Additional Notes:
Ideal for naturalising and creating soft drifts of early spring colour, Chionodoxa ‘Rosea’ also works well in containers and pairs nicely with other early bloomers like crocus and miniature daffodils.
