One of the most enchanting sights of spring, Erythronium dens-canis Mixed produces a delightful blend of nodding flowers in shades of pink, rose, lilac and white, dancing above beautifully mottled foliage.
Known as the Dog's Tooth Violet, this charming woodland bulb is native to the deciduous forests and mountain meadows of Europe, where it has been admired for centuries. The unusual name comes from the shape of the bulb, which resembles a canine tooth. Despite the name, it is not related to violets but belongs to the lily family.
Each elegant flower has reflexed petals that sweep backwards, creating a graceful, almost orchid-like appearance. The marbled green leaves emerge in early spring and are attractive even before the flowers appear, adding interest to woodland plantings and shaded borders.
This mixed selection offers a wonderful variety of colours, ensuring every planting develops its own unique character. Over time, plants will gently naturalise and form increasingly impressive colonies in suitable conditions.
Perfect for woodland gardens, beneath deciduous trees and shrubs, or planted amongst ferns, Primroses and Anemones, Erythronium dens-canis Mixed brings a touch of wild beauty and elegance to the spring garden.
