Elegant, refined and wonderfully reliable, Erythronium 'White Beauty' is one of the finest white-flowered Dog's Tooth Violets available. Its graceful nodding blooms feature pristine white petals that sweep backwards dramatically, revealing a soft golden-yellow centre and prominent chocolate-brown anthers.

Flowering in mid-spring, the delicate flowers are held above attractive marbled green foliage, creating a display of exceptional elegance beneath deciduous trees and shrubs. The beautifully mottled leaves emerge early in the season and provide ornamental interest even before the flowers appear.

A vigorous garden hybrid, 'White Beauty' is noted for its strong growth and willingness to form substantial clumps over time. It combines beautifully with Ferns, Wood Anemones, Primroses, Trilliums and other woodland treasures, bringing light and brightness to shaded areas of the garden.

Like all Erythroniums, it thrives in cool, moisture-retentive woodland conditions and, once established, will reward gardeners with increasingly impressive displays each spring.

A truly outstanding woodland perennial that adds elegance, purity and charm to the spring garden.

Planting Instructions

When to Plant:

Plant Erythronium bulbs in autumn as soon as possible after receipt. Erythronium bulbs dislike drying out and should not be left out of the ground for extended periods.

Where to Plant:
Choose a position in partial shade or dappled woodland shade with moist, humus-rich, well-drained soil. Ideal beneath deciduous trees, shrubs or in woodland-style borders.

How to Plant:

  • Depth: Plant bulbs approximately 10–15 cm (4–6 inches) deep.
  • Spacing: Space bulbs about 15 cm (6 inches) apart.
  • Soil Prep: Improve the soil with plenty of leaf mould, compost or well-rotted organic matter before planting.

Watering:
Water thoroughly after planting and keep the soil moist during active growth in spring. Avoid waterlogged conditions.

Aftercare Tips:

  • Allow the foliage to die back naturally after flowering.
  • Apply an annual mulch of leaf mould or compost to maintain soil fertility and moisture.
  • Leave clumps undisturbed wherever possible, as they become more impressive with age.

Top Tip:
Plant alongside bluebells, ferns and Anemone nemorosa to create a classic woodland planting with beautiful contrast between the pure white flowers and fresh spring greenery.
