Gladiolus nanus The Bride

Elegant, graceful and beautifully refined, Gladiolus nanus 'The Bride' is a charming dwarf gladiolus producing pristine white flowers delicately marked with soft blush-pink and creamy highlights at the throat.

Unlike the taller summer-flowering gladioli, Gladiolus nanus varieties flower earlier and have a more natural, cottage-garden character. The slender flower spikes carry several blooms that seem to float above narrow grey-green foliage, creating a light and airy display during late spring and early summer.

Originally bred from South African species, Gladiolus nanus combines the beauty of traditional gladioli with improved hardiness and a more relaxed habit. Planting Instructions

When to Plant:

Plant Gladiolus nanus corms in autumn (September–November) or early spring in colder areas. Autumn planting generally produces the strongest and earliest flowering plants.

Where to Plant:
Choose a sunny, sheltered position with fertile, well-drained soil. Gladiolus nanus is ideal for borders, gravel gardens, containers and naturalistic planting schemes.

How to Plant:

• Depth: Plant corms approximately 8–10 cm (3–4 inches) deep.
• Spacing: Space corms about 10 cm (4 inches) apart.
• Soil Prep: Improve the soil with compost or well-rotted organic matter. Add grit if drainage is poor.

Watering:
Water after planting to settle the soil. Once growth begins, keep the soil moderately moist but avoid waterlogging.

Aftercare Tips:

• Deadhead spent flowers to keep plants tidy.
• Allow foliage to die back naturally after flowering.
• In well-drained soils, corms can often be left in the ground year after year.
• Apply a light mulch in colder areas for additional winter protection.
